Church Committees
Committees help us to coordinate our life together. As the saying goes: Many hands make light work. We continually seek persons to serve in our life together. Specific committees include:
Worship Board – help to plan and coordinate our worship life together. See Richard Walker for more details.
Stewardship Team – help us live into our relationship with God and each other as we plan how to give our Time, Talent and Treasure for the work of Christ here at Trinity and around the world. See Maritza Tamayo for more details
House/Property – To maintain our large facility and grounds. See Erick Martinez, Property Manager or Ray Hummel for more details.
Finance – help us make decisions about investments, develop our annual budget, review monthly financial reports, etc. See Steven Lin for more details.
Fellowship – help to coordinate the weekly event held after worship, the summer barbecue and other special events during the year. See Marcia Ramadhar for more details.
Personnel – to maintain policy and procedures and assist in supervising and evaluation of the church staff. See Pastor Paul for more details.
Social Media – to engage our congregation and community and keep them informed about what's going on at Trinity and in Astoria. See Duane Tollison for more details.
Church Engagement Taskforce
A group of Trinity Family members is in conversation about how we can be more engaged as a church family, with each other and with the world. As part of their discernment, they have read two powerful books:
“The God Impulse: The Power of Mercy in an Unmerciful World,” by Jack Alexander; and “Growing and Engaged Church: How to Stop “doing church” and start BEING the Church Again,” by Albert L. Winseman.
Conversations are leading us to explore the possibility of creating a Shepherding Ministry among our Trinity Family and spend time listening to folk to help them find out where God is calling them.

Shepherding Ministry at Trinity
Jesus says: “I am the Good Shepherd of the flock.
My sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me.
New York City can be a very lonely place, persons who become a part of our church family/faith community may feel alone. With the opportunity to become part of a flock, persons can find a wider family of folk to care for them and with which they can be companions.
The Shepherding Ministry is a way to put a framework around our calling to be
· caring,
· filled with concern,
· having compassion and love for each other and the world – to Tend and Feed.
Shepherds are those functioning as a companion in the faith journey. A shepherd gently moves the flock.
The Shepherding Ministry at Trinity will help people to feel more welcoming to each other and especially provide a tangible presence of welcome to newcomers in our midst: Trinity is a loving, caring intentional Christian community. It provides connectivity through various groups.
Specific things that will happen:
· A spiritual gifts survey/inventory will be developed and offered to help individuals learn what gifts they have been given by the Spirit of the Living God. “But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. . . .to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ . . .” – Ephesians 4:7, 12. “To EACH is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. . . . All these are inspired by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as the Spirit wills.” – 1st Corinthians 12:7, 11 – This will be administered from July through early fall.
· Identify already existing support network/groups/flock: Sewing Ladies, Handbell choir, Trinity Women’s Group, Conversación biblicas en Español, Sunday School, Church staff, etc.
· Identify potential persons who might serve as Shepherds in our congregational family –Engagement Task Force will be in prayer over this during September & October.
· January of 2020 – Shepherds are named. During Epiphany Season – January and February – they go through training for their work. For those who want a deeper experience, resources and materials will be provided for use once flocks have been formed.
· Various flocks formed and assigned to a shepherd.
· February 23, 2020 – Transfiguration Sunday will include a consecration of Shepherds and Flock during worship
· Ash Wednesday, February 26 – Shepherd and flock begin their life together.
· Ongoing prayer, support and further training, including retreats, will be provided over the year.
